Does my vehicle need to be modified to use CNG?
Yes — your vehicle needs a CNG conversion kit installed by a certified garage before it can run on natural gas. This is a one-time procedure. Once converted, your vehicle can switch between CNG and petrol, giving you full flexibility. The conversion cost in Dar es Salaam typically ranges from 600,000 to 1,200,000 TZS depending on vehicle type. Most drivers recover this cost within 2 to 3 months of switching. We can refer you to trusted, certified conversion centres nearby.
How much will I save compared to petrol?
Most drivers in Dar es Salaam save between 40% and 60% on daily fuel costs after switching to CNG. A typical day on petrol costs 28,000–35,000 TZS. On CNG, that same day's driving typically costs 10,000–17,500 TZS — with the same or better range per fill-up.
